The Lifetime Excellence in Sports Communication Award

Launched in the fall of 2015, the Lifetime Excellence in Sports Communication Award is given to individuals who have exemplified excellence over time in the broadly defined field of sports communication. The award recognizes the social value and importance of sport and those who cover, analyze, narrate, and otherwise bring us our national pastimes. It recognizes those whose contributions are considerable, ethical, and inspire others to follow in their footsteps. The award celebrates those who have enriched our lives, educated and entertained us, and contextualized the vast social institution that is sport.

The Marist College Center for Sports Communication presents this award both to applaud the lifetime accomplishments of exemplary individuals, but also to serve as an example and reminder of the power and impact of sports media. Given at a celebratory event, this award allows friends and colleagues to speak about award recipients and create a meaningful commemoration of an outstanding life and career. Additionally, thanks to the generous support of friends and sponsors, the award ceremony raises funds towards an endowment for the Center for Sports Communication.
